Halves & Doubles

A very simple drinking game to be played in a bar, cafe, or pub by four or more players, with a Double-Six domino set and a supply of alcohol.  It is just an excuse to get drunk but can be fun. Remember to drink responsibly and don't end up in hospital.

Play:

The dominoes are shuffled, facedown, in a random boneyard.  Players then in turn draw a tile from the boneyard and turn it face-up.  Any of the following tiles drawn have the following corresponding actions in the game:

  • Any double drawn means the drawing player drinks a double measure of spirits.
  • Any tile with a total of 7 pips means the drawing player drinks a half measure of beer.
  • Any tile with a total of 3 pips reverses the direction of players taking turn.
  • Any tile with a total of 5 pips means the next player misses their turn.
  • Any tile with a total of 11 pips means the drawing player drinks a pint of beer.
  • All other tiles are meaningless.

Play continues, setting aside the drawn dominoes, until all the dominoes have been drawn and turned face-up. Players must wait until any player who must drink has finished their drink, before drawing any more tiles.
